The Flowers of My Poerty
Blooming phrases in my head
were words in me i wished to speak
thoughts id never said aloud
feelings that had not been expressed
secrets wanting to break free
Closed and buried in my garden
i chose to let them die
planted too deep to see light
left alone and in the dark to wither
no warmth nor rain to help them survive
Hidden in a fruitful valley
my tiny bulbs began to grow
abused but unashamed my sprouts came forth
each sprout became the stems of my creation
every leaf was a part of me in poetic form
Pushing passed the surface
those confined expressions of me flowered
blooming petals both black and bright
no longer dormant i blossomed into my own
taking my place in this garden of poetry
