Fly

I look at the world through a glass,
Everyone looks blurry as they pass.
They want me to be like them,
This is a world were you either sink or swim.
I am drowning from the masses,
I have to be perfect, to surpasses.
But all do is make mistakes,
And my failure overtakes.
I cry hard as I wonder,
"Is it alright if I fall under?"
Under the stress of this beautiful lie,
All I can do is sit down and cry.
I want to breathe as I am set free,
To their ideals and beliefs I must disagree.
If I want to get out of the glass of society,
I must get rid of my anxiety.
I take a step forward and it cracks,
I am finally released and able to relax.
I feel my wings reach out far and wide,
I take off from my stride,
Breathe in, breathe out as I say "Goodbye",
Because I'm a girl who has learned to fly.
