This Fool
I know who you see
I know who you want me to be
I know what it's like
To taste it
And not have it
I've always been
A breath away
I already know honey
I'm a mess
I think you know this
But you give me a kiss
That reminds me
I'm okay
That today
Is a new day
The morning light
Slips in
And you kiss me
Slid fingers along my skin
And I come alive
Under you
Your breath
The taste of you
I breathe you in
I begin again
My best friend
My love
My heart beats
With yours
And we make
Music together
Hands knotted together
You run fingers
Through my hair
You laugh
Without a single care
Shoulders easy
Without stress
You love me
Best
You hold me
Without chains or duress
You challenge me
Put me to the test
And somehow
I always win you over
Over and over
I've been sober
Since you told me
You loved me
I'd keep you
For a thousand
Lifetimes
If I could
If I was given one wish
I would kiss
Every fingertip
And pray
We could stay
Like this
Forever
I would whisper
Never
And I would hold on tighter
Then before
We'd unlock
The door
Inside me
And we'd fight the demons
That keep me away from you
Whether
I'm hopeless
It might be true
Your family
Friends
They shake their heads
Don't understand
Why someone good
Like you
Loves a fool
Like me
But true
To your word
You love me
Through the shame and dirt
That has covered me
Now it's you
That covers me
Surrounds me
If this pain
This stain
Takes me away from you
If we can't win this way
Inside me
And I still end up
At the end
Of a bottle
Just know
I love you
I love you so
I hope you know
I hope you know
Please know
This fool
Loves you
