Fool Me Twice

I fell in love once,

It was a wonderful feeling,

I felt like I was loved,

Like I mattered,

Like someone in the world cared about me.

I was so broken

And covered in my darkness,

I didn’t see that she didn’t love me,

Not in the way that I loved her.

Fool me once

The saying goes.

I fell in love again,

She took away my pain,

She blew away the darkness,

She healed away the brokenness.

Then she left me too.

Fool me twice

The saying goes.

Fool me once

Shame on you,

Fool me twice,

Shame on me.
