The Force of Hope
Hope keeps the diligent student buoyant
Hours spent working for an unattained scholarship, she feels deprived
Yet the prospect maintains to keep her alive
Hope provides the quiet child a voice
Speaking for what she advocates
Despite her introverted tendencies
Hope preserves the young idealist imagination
Her obscure daydreams feed off the mere possibility of becoming true
Hope maintains the reluctant artists' motivation
Her aspirations are shot down by society's boisterous expectations
Nonetheless her dreams remain vivid
Hope grants the timid outsider strength to conquer her anxiety
A chance to connect with the people around her
Slowly stepping out of her impenetrable bubble
Hope allows the emotional teenager to remain nonchalant in dire situations
Anticipating that the bad will soon turn good
Helps maintain her plastered poker face
Hope gives the overwhelmed adolescent reassurance
That she can make time for the things she desires
While completing the tasks the community puts on her
Hope permits this skeptical applicant optimism
In spite of her internal fears of failure
So if stripped from everything else
The one thing this aloof scholar chooses to take with her is hope
A force that gives her courage to improve her flaws
A force that resides in herself
A force that makes her indomitable
