Force of Music

Like air in my lungs
A swelling power that grows
Flooding my body

Melodies mix and pierce,
Screaming through my weary mind--
Awaken my soul.

Anger, distress, doubt,
All are silenced by the sound
Of grace in a song.

Blooming, swaying tones
Cry and snicker and scamper
Across my dark dreams.

Without dear music,
Dreams and thoughts shift to murky grey.
Life would be nothing.

I ought to survive
If songs should cease to exist.
But I would not live.
