Forest's Blight

Slender and tall, still in the fog

A smile from eye to eye

They roam the forest from dusk till dawn

In search of a passerby

A bite or scratch is all it takes

To leave one’s past behind

Their venom causes physical pain

Then it attacks the mind

After a day, or two, or three

The victim will transform

No longer human, but one of them

The smile they will adorn

Unknown to all, a mystery

Creatures of the night

Slender and tall, still in the fog

They are the forest’s blight
