Forever and a Day

There’s a phrase I heard when I was young

I heard it whispered off a tongue

I don’t quite know where it came from

But it touched my soul when I was young

The phrase was short but sugar sweet

and I remember staring at my feet

Blushing red with my lips creased

As if the words were bitter sweet

I love you forever and a day

That’s what you always used to say

How come then did you go away

If you loved me forever and a day

Forever you see should never end

Forever doesn’t even bend

It stands tall like a faithful friend

A friend to love until the end

But you did go and you left me

All alone beside our tree

Our tree by which we used to swing

Our swing in which you did leave me

I will love you forever and a day

I promise that for you, I will wait

I’ll learn to wait and I’ll learn to pray

In hopes that you’ll be back some day

Until that day I’ll take a break

I’ll rest my eyes until I wake

I’ll point them out unto the lake

But without you my heart will break.
