Forever Changed

I didn't have a mother figure while growing up, And my father.. I love him dearly, but he doesn't understand my wandering mind I'm a mermaid but I always felt like, I was drowning Then I met Eric, my fresh air I thought I wanted out of my life, so badly that I changed my self I changed everything about me, for this boy I knew nothing about But I can't go back I'm trapped here, I feel like.. a caged animal on land Land folk poke fun at me And use me for my voice I want my old life, my old self back I never realized one charming, sweet smile, could become so toxic to poison myself I don't even recognize myself anymore. ~Modern twist on The Little Mermaid
