Forever Fearful

Fear is a crack in the plaster It stares heavily Smiles menacingly Just waiting For me to notice Once I see it, I can’t look away It draws my eyes like a moth to a flame I imagine its depth How brittle it must be To let a crack such as this Run wild on its surface It doesn’t move, doesn’t leave Just stares its ugly eyes at me I sit in the corner Waiting for it to fix itself Though I know it won’t I should get up to fix it But I don’t Eventually I find strength To leave the corner To fill the crack Though I’ll never finish For fear is infinite It may appear perfect But I know The crack still remains Thinly below
