Forever Free
One day I walked along the beach and found
A wounded bird that lay upon the sand.
I longed to see its safe return to flight
Because I had once felt that pain firsthand.
Though once I was content to be tied down
I've realized that it's better to be free.
A bird upon the ground I could have been
But rather in the sky I choose to be.
