Forever By My Side

Gazing at the sunrise

Wondering what’s next

I stand here waiting,

What will happen to the rest?

Will they melt into the shadows?

Will they jump up and shout,

“What are we doing here,

On this planet full of doubt

When I leave here will they miss me?

And will they even care

Will they look into the starlight?

Wondering if I’m there

Or will they just decide, in their minds,

That I’m not there

At least I’ll be safe now

Safe, in his arms

He is my sweet savior

My escape from the doubt

Don’t truly know who, or really what he is

All I know is that he’ll protect me

He’ll protect me through the lies

Through the darkness and grief

Through all of shadows and scary deeds

Deeds done by the mean, cruel, and wrong

Now I am safe,

Now I can find,

A way to find peace,

Now that he’s by my side
