Forever Now

6 a.m. I sit in the serenity and warmth Of my living room. My coffee Hot In a souvenir cup Brought to me by the Oldest of my brothers From a country far from Home. Denim pants torn At the knees. Toes snuggled Into a pair of Maroon colored slippers, Matching my long sleeve shirt Too, Resembling something from The imagination of Dr. Suess. Kings Kaleidoscope feeds through The wires of earphones Into my ears. Through The pink, metal rims Of my glasses My eyes follow along The print of black words On white paper, Bounded together by Careful seams of the book. Words of eloquence, Wisdom, Power, And love, My devotional, My Bible, The instruction book For my life And His love letter To the rest of humanity. My mind wanders Through past weeks. Regretful, Remorseful choices Are first to break. What could, Should I have done To alter my Upshot, Though it was inevitable. None more. I'm beating The horse that is already Dead now. Dug my grave, Then soon lay in it. But With confidence and grace, You let me rise as Lazarus. The solace my soul Has craved for so long, Has been embedded In my heart Now. For I am washed, Whiter than snow. You wrote my name In Your book of life.
