The Forever Travelers

The rhythmic tick of railroad ties lulls them to sleep. Tattered hats on chests rise with their breaths so deep. Of pennies and good drink and tender touch they dream. But when they wake they think of nothing, no one, minds clean. Forever is a long, long way to ponder in the rain. For never will come the day of sweet home-bound train.
