Thrust into the fire,
My body tingles.
As the flames lick my heels I
Allow myself to melt.
Gaseous dreams fill my core while
Noxious smoke billows out.
Slippery smooth and empty
I dance for the embers that wink like
Cats eyes, and allow myself to be lost
In the oppressive pleasure of the heat.
Reaching out to you I
Drip a drop
Of essence, leaking out energy
In my wanton spiral I cannot see
But the twirling, swirling blurs and those
Cheshire cat grins
When as we are about to meld
You divide the Great Divide
And I am loosed into the water.
The cold consumes,
And I collapse into myself.
Full feeling rushes out
As the realization comes that those gaseous
Dreams never fully formed,
And those noxious fumes were my senses.
I am left, bereft,
The hard steel of my lifeline fissured
Drowning as I sink below the barrel line,
Watching you begin the dance anew.
