forget me not

today, i found myself waiting

sitting in this coffee shop

relentlessly,

thoughts of you engulfed my mind.

our love was once budding

now a for-get-me-not

please, forget me not

because i can't get you off of my mind.

for you, i wrote

i wrote and i wrote,

none of it any good,

but each time i cried-

paper stained with salt water

crinkled paper

now a for-get-me-not,

please, forget me not.

if love is patient

i'm willing to wait.

if love is kind,

why do my insides ache?

love is doubt

and regret consumes me.

i've learned to hate something that never happened.

please, forget me not.

our love was delicate,

but the petals have fallen.

we're a wilted stem

it seems all good things must come to an end;

but whatever this was

it never began

and i can't begin to tell you how sorry i am.

please, forget me not.
