Forgetting Me

I was so hopeless during this time. I still struggle today but I am still alive.

The me I once knew is gone,

Betrayed by the world,

So she left the earth

To take her place in the sky;

The me I once knew is empty,

Others stole her heart and gave it back,

Pieces missing,

Showing the darkness that was left;

The me I once knew is a shadow,

The light within her vanished

As soon as she began to grow up,

Too young;

The me I once knew is dying,

She loved to live before,

But now all she wants to do

Is pull the trigger,

Swallow the pills,

And leave the ruins of this broken,

Ugly planet;

The me I once knew is forgotten,

A lonely soul begging for

Just a little bit of hope

To carry her through the night,

But no one remembers her anymore,

Not even me.

I have been writing poetry for 5 years now and I have a collection of over 600 original poems I've made. I submitted a poem to Appelley Publishing and was published in the 2018 addition of their poetry book. I love to read and write, and I have a cat and a hamster.
