forgive

  1. I forgive you for never playing the part you were given. For never being a “normal” father. I forgive you for playing daddy to other children when you couldn’t even be here for your own. I forgive you for never teaching me how to ride a bike or helping me with homework. I forgive you for all the beatings you gave me with your belt, whipping and lashing until the cracks had satisfied you.
  2. I forgive you for teaching me that my self-worth lies in the beds of other men. That confidence means seeing how many can pry my legs open, just like you did. I forgive you for teaching me that my curves were assets and prizes to be broadcasted to the world rather than hidden and kept safe as a treasure. I forgive you for playing my body as an instrument, fingers touching every key. I forgive you for teaching me that every man is the same, that all they want is the pearl between my legs.
  3. I forgive you for teaching me that my body can only be adorned by the hands of other men, that arms around the waist hold more importance then hand over my head.
  4. I forgive you for loving alcohol more then you loved your own family.
  5. I forgive you for shattering me entirely, for it is that reason that I have learned to grow and heal. I have learned that forgiveness is for me, that bitterness comes from within but so does self-love. I have learned to love myself more than anyone could. I forgive you, father.
