Forgiven

A breath of fresh air and the weight is gone. I can finally breathe. I uncover my face and look around. The drops of salty waters are wiped from my face. I stand up and look around and then up to the sky. The birds chirp, the winds are calm, and the air is still. The sky is magenta, the feel is fair, and the scent is new. Onward I take the first step. My knees tremble, my hands perspire, and my eyes wonder around looking for the next thing to do. I turn then I stand. Nothing behind me. I turn and I stand. Nothing beside me. Joy enters my heart through the blinding sun and I begin to stroll down the block. The sound of children laughing and screaming faded in and filled my ears. Their smiles and their pure spirits roam in the fields free…free of guilt, shame, and blood like I. The breeze picks up, the clouds part, and my toes wiggle loosely from the damp grass. I can feel my raiment drying to crisp clean linen. The purity of the color within it is being restored like the holes in my heart. A rainbow passes over in the distance and my heart flutters into a smile. Skip…. Skip… Skip… “I’M FREE, I’M FREE!” I cry and shout with tears of glee. The bondage and the oppression loosed me and a loving, warm, and calming power came and tendered my heart. It is full of new things and beginnings. The green grass stretches for yards beyond the eye. On a hill of lilies I dive into a fresh essence of happiness and joy while the enemy stands aside and far envying my positive energy. My tears alarmed him until he saw my smile which flew him away. The diamonds of the night come and in my bed I release the prolonged tensions that my past held. Every bruise, knot, and ache was relieved and withdrawn. And just then a dove appeared over my head, humming my weary mind into a deep and fulfilling sleep.
