Forgotten

I wake up

another fight

mother,stepdad

muscles bunched tight

screaming insults

slamming doors

bloodshot eyes

spirits sore

i go comfort

i go hear

despite common sense

despite fear

they take the comfort

they take the shoulder to cry

and when it's over

once things have gellified

then it's as if

a mere two minutes ago

there was no screaming

there were no foes

and i return

to my room

with no thanks or apologies

forgotten

I wake up

another fight

mother, brother

muscles bunched tight

both have depression

an emotional tide

but neither takes medicine

too much pride

My brother takes

my mother gives

this is where

the trouble lives

he's taken too much

in a rare rage

mom's spoken up

snarling in her cage

they circle each other

bloodthirsty eyes

who's will will win?

and who's will die?

I stand in the middle

I cross their path

despite common sense

despite all math

they take the relief

no more than 5 minutes pass

until the fight seems

of the distant past

and i return

to my room

with battle scars and tear stains

forgotten

I wake up

another fight

waged inside my head

muscles bunched tight

I scream

I cry

but no one hears

no one tries

and

i

am

forgotten
