Forgotten Child
Hopelessly I gaze in wonder
Listening to the wailing thunder
Watching the rain fly and flutter
Soft against the window pane
Thinking of places I've resided
Secluded memories I've tried to hide
And many and evening I've sat alone
And watched a violent fire rage
Voluntarily she used to sit
By my side in the everlasting dim
Pleasing me with infinite tales of simpler times,
troubling still
I wait her call, the call of my mother
Beckoning me like no other
To save me from these sinful thoughts
To call from a separate corridor
But I shall never heed these calls again,
I know of this and nothing more
Enraged, enlightened, I'm still alone
Awaiting the children of my own
My heart beating like a metronome
Against my cold, abandoned chest
I dream of the past before she left me
A time when I would rather let be
All of the questions and every memory
Wearing holes into my mind
Until at last I set them free
I try so hard to set my mind free
To bring myself at peace with the secrets, so dark, dark and deep
Answers I'll never have.
