Forgotten Lore

Once upon a starless night, an ominous storm peered bleary and weary, While the wind blew the ragged red curtains with all it’s might. It’s fragile grasp wrapped around my tense core, Suddenly the lights flickered until they were not bright, Leaving me standing spellbound with fright, My mind leading me into the beguiled night. Tempest raging skies, violet clouds, flashes of light the streak had finally struck, Suddenly, there was a beating pulse tapping on my chamber door, I rose with a shudder to find nothing in sight. Hustling to the window to what my eyes revealed a stalky hawk that could not soar, It’s feathers and beady eyes were as dark as molten ore Never letting me forget its forgotten lore.
