The Forgotten Love
It's funny because growing up everything seemed so black and white
Now that I'm older it's like I can't even tell the difference between wrong and right
I mean I understand that the righteous path is the only one that contains the light
But I can't help but to hold on to my sin so tight
I keep holding on confused yet easily amused by its temporary delights
I've grown so weak without him I no longer put up a fight
My heart says I love the Lord but my actions treat him like a concubine
Instead of serinating him with prayer and meditation
I try to show him my love through heartless poems and cheap pick-up lines
But he is not a foolish God who is easily amused
By my new lyrics and my constant rues
You see just like me he knows this routine
I fall to my knees and claim to repent for my sins
That's right I do acknowedge that the things that I do are infact sins
I knew his word so well when I walked with him
But so did Lucifer when he fell from grace
And well, we all know what became of him
It's so easy to point the finger and say the devil made me do it
He may have planted the seed but it was me who took the bait
We're constantly saying we control our own fate
But when we reach a trail to which we don't want to relate
We change our God to match our life
Rather than changing our life to match our God
Constantly shuffling him around like a deck of cards
Completely forgetting that the debt he paid on that cross was OURS!
