A sigh was all it took 

To make his sorrow grow

As he whispered it into 

The night

Leaning against the bannister

His blue eyes searched the

Vast darkness ahead of him

Not even the silver tendrils 

Of the moon could disrrupt 

It's presence

It was unpenetrable

Unmovable

Just like his father

Hot tears seared down

Prince Charming's cheeks

All he wanted to do that moment

Was to tear off his silky garb

And toss his crown to the wind

To live as a simple and honest man

An honest man in love

But father wouldn't allow it

He wouldn't allow the family bloodline

To be disrupted by a single kiss

A gentle embrace between two lovers

Two lovers who could never produce an heir

Prince Charming didn't care  if 

His love would result in no children

All he wanted to do was to gaze

Into his lover's eyes and

Feel their gold locks kiss his fingers

But it will never be since

His father dismissed the young lad

A squire by the name of Gregory

From his service

Leaving Prince Charming with a broken heart

Standing on the balcony waiting for the ball to start

A ball where he will be forced

To select a wife who will 

Love her tiara far more than she will

Ever love him

The deep chimes of the bell

Signaled the beginning of the ball

women flooded the room behind him

One by one

None of them were as beautiful 

As his beloved

None of them will ever be his beloved

Not even the girl who just arrived 

In a pumpkin carriage

With hair and eyes like Gregory

Will ever replace him
