Forts

The days go on and he grows.

And so it goes

until one day he looks up and he

is no longer that child.

But the struggles are the same.

The hopes, dreams, fears, and tears remain.

And through twenty two years of

promises and blame,

they still couldn’t take away the pain.

Now the forts he built in his bedroom

exist in his mind.

They only grow stronger with

Time.
