Found The Monster
Under your bed and inside the closet
You fear the places you know to hide monsters
Each night and each morning a quick check you make
Hoping no monster can see your arms shake
But what of your Congress?
Your TV, your comics?
Did you really think that they had no monsters?
Look in their eyes now
What do you see?
Nothing?
Oh my, well how can that be?
I'll tell you my dear if you just sit and listen
I'll tell you how some make deals with a demon
In old times a demon had to be summoned
Bound to a person by contract and coven
Demons will do whatever you please
All for a rather unusual fee
They'd want neither jewels, silver, nor gold
Rather they'd charge you the price of your soul
Not much has changed from then until now
But each day they're called up from the ground
Politicians will get them to win their elections
Celebrities get them to smooth their complexions
Singers will use them to upgrade their voice
Because producers will rarely give them a choice
"But how can you spot them?" you may think to ask
Demons do wear their bound like a mask
Anyone you suspect, just look in their eyes
And you will see if they're full of lies
People with souls show vibrance and life
And for their passion, they'll put up a fight
But demons slowly take over hosts' minds
And one day you'll notice their dark, empty eyes
Now that's all my dear, for it's time for bed
And don't let your eyes bug out of your head
Stop being silly, I'm not an imposter
You just fear the places you know to hide monsters
