Foundations

First, the ground fell

You shouldn't build foundations in people

Then, I retreated into the darkest parts of myself

Pulling open wounds, searching for a reason

That you did this to me.

I walked on eggshells

tired, but true; quiet and rough

A fire rumbled inside.

My dear mother told me

"Those that matter are forces themselves"

My pain was backlash

Against your own flaws.

Finally, I walked the floor

After so long inverted by shame

Love is not battle

But the force of a shared power
