To the teacher that ruined my dreams:
Thank you.
To the teacher that ruined math for me:
Thank you.
To the teacher that always made me harmony:
Thank you.
To the teacher that never had time for me:
Thank you

Because of you I am different today.
Because of you I have learned to run away.
Because of you I will always feel lonely.
Because of you I won't do what they told me.
Because of you I will never be like you.
Because of you I will never cure the flu.
Because of you I have a stronger voice.
Because of you I still stand by my choice.

To the teacher who laughed at my mistakes:
Screw you.
To the teacher who refused to explain:
Screw you.
To the teacher that ignored my refrain:
Screw you.
To the teacher that caused my family pain:
Screw you.

Because of you four I have not found myself.
Because of you four I adopted somebody else.
Because of you four I gave up on my hope.
Because of you four I made silence of notes.
Because of you four I am stronger now.
Because of you four I will not back down.
Because of you four my anger is checked.
Because of you four I will graduate best.

Cairo Poirot

Dessa Darling of Doomtree, my sister (who first got me listening to Dessa), and my current English teacher (who introduced me to slam poetry as an art form and a way to get around the conventions) are the three people who have most inspired me to use slam poetry as a means to be heard.
