Four Cries

Would be lucky to reach the age of six the father was told Dedication would be found and so the story enfolds: The moon still awake the sun still asleep The alarm clock goes off the day begins its earliest peak Light is blind that early in the morning But get ready he must for the day is just beginning He would not keep his dear son waiting Because they must get through it every morning Next door, he would travel knocking the familiar wood The sound would resound waiting he stood The door groaned open there their eyes would meet Looking at each other they knew what they must beat The shower the clothes all these tasks complete Before the rest of the family is on their feet Go on, the father would to the place he worked Never missing a day no matter how much he hurt Tough and molded hands blistered with electricity Were proof of his hard earned longevity Home he would find faith Laughing and all The smile on his face would never befall Very solemn would he ever complain Loneliness absent in thought through the friends he has made Those who know him best those who hold him dear Know that he has only shed four tears
