Four-Leaf Clover

Growing and sprouting proudly through the ground, Shoots a little, slender trunk young and new. Important piece of weed you are when found, For nimble fingers to pick and hold tight to. Petals displayed on top for all to see, Each shaped like a heart so gentle and strong. Perfectly placed as circular can be, The right number arranged where they belong. More important though is what you will bring, To the person in whose fingers you lie. A brightly Irish, lucky song you sing, And grant their wishes without asking, "Why?" A lucky four-leaf clover emerald green, Hiding in grass trying not to be seen.

I wrote this poem because my Irish heritage is very important to me and is a huge part of my life. With a birthday one day before St. Patrick's day, my family often celebrates both occasions together so I have a special place in my heart for all things Irish.
