Four Years of Not Knowing
You couln't wait to get into a new school.
All new people you'd meet,
New names you'd remember for the rest of your life.
Then you have classes with those people that become your best friend,
You make jokes, laugh in class, and in trouble for talking to each other.
And then at the football games and wrestling matches,
You'd see that one person that you can't quite rap your mind around.
But school goes on.
You make irreplaceabe memories,
Day after day, and,
Night after night.
You hear the same questions every step of the way.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Where do you want to go to college?"
You answer those the same way as you always do.
"I don't know yet, haven't given much thought into it."
You go to homecoming not with a boy,
But with your best friends because you don't need anyone else.
Then you have those summer nights,
Where you're all by the camp fire,
Thining what's going to happen next year?
The last year comes and your determined to make it your best.
Driving around late on school nights and thinking,
"What am I going to do?"
You brush it off and continue on the ride.
Its finally here!
Prom!
Where you have to have the prettiest dress, nicest hair.
And finally that last question pops up.
"Who am I?"
You'd think you knew that because you've lived on this planet for almost 18 years.
You think to yourself,
"I AM ME!"
