Fragile

One random Fall day,

When I was in the fifth grade,

My parents had something to say,

Family ties beginning to fade.

I never knew what it was to be

A responsible, respectful, person

Until my parents both agreed

Their marriage was a burden

My decision was final:

No more recklessness,

No more useless spirals,

No more helplessness.

I got my act together,

leaving me fragile no more,

allowing me to weather

anything that makes my heart sore.
