Fragile Things

New life in the world, haunting screams

Broken bones and butterfly wings

My mind on you and my heart when it sings

All that once was, and more fragile things

Time spent laughing, my faith when it’s lost

The things we wanted, and counting the cost

A love gone bad, and diamond rings

All that once was, and more fragile things

The dream I had, when I saw your face

Then I was left alone, inside that place

My rulers are dead, no queens and kings

All that once was, and more fragile things

When I bent, I broke, when I faltered, I cried

When you weren’t mine, I thought I would die

The bells have tolled, and my head still rings

All that once was, and more fragile things

My selfish desires, a newborn lamb

The wrongs I had wrought, and the souls of the damned

A little white lie, much more than it seems

All that once was, and more fragile things

Your heart when he left you, my heart, how it grieved

The whispers of secrets, a long dead belief

You don’t realize you’re happy, until happiness leaves

All that once was, and more fragile things

The cries of the fearful, the tears of the lost

Talking to trees, and the feeling of moss

My words unspoken, and a love unseen

All that once was, and more fragile things

I would go back in time, before my fall

Tell you how I felt, I would scream it all

You won’t see me again, even in your dreams

Who could want broken, fragile things?
