Freddie Oversteegen
A brave child,
Turned Brave woman
To fight for country
Is courage wrapped in silence
Or sometimes in flirtatious words
A bullet from a bike,
A pamphlet of hate
A start to something loud
Quiet
Which was it
A family hidden
A nation torn
Men who’d touch a teen
They deserved it
To see blood drip from split skulls
Innate horror incarnate
Fear- loud, quiet
A quickening of breath
Why can't I breathe
Is that what you felt
When you watched the first body fall
Disgust, fear
What's happening
It’s loud, quiet silence
Or was it a sick satisfaction
Is it sick?
They deserved it
Didn’t they?
What did I just do
Dead they’re dead
It was necessary
I hope.
