I am alone, but I am free

When I was surrounded I was without meaning

Everyday and every hour, I wasn’t me

However, here and now I am free

I am free to be me

I am free to be a black women without the staring eyes

I am free to walk

I am free to talk

I am free to…

Although without company

The silence is sound

I can hear my own thoughts

And see me

I wouldn’t change this future

I wouldn’t change what happened

I wouldn’t change anything

For here and now the ideas of me are allowed

Being a women is allowed

Being black is allowed

Being able to speak is allowed

I am free
