While you were away

I cried each and every day

All I could do is pray

That you would come back to stay

I want to believe that every word is true

I want to defend you , until I turn blue

But people keep saying

That all my praying

Was a waste of time

There acting like loving you is a crime

You said I was it for you

How was I supposed to know it was all untrue?

I don’t know what to say or do

But I guess we are through

They were right

About you and me

But can’t you see

All I want is for us to be

Free

Free from judgement

Free from fear

All I want is to hold you near

And wait for this smoke to clear
