A Free Boy
Pinocchio dreamed and dreamed
"I wanna be a free boy" he screamed.
For he hoped to be a free boy
Not somebody's broken toy.
He was a puppet for others to play
Not with strings but with what his master would say.
I wanna be free.
His master was no one new
Just his stepfather with his old rules.
For he was a boy with flesh and bones
Yet treated as a puppet of his own.
He followed the rules he displayed
Even when his heart was betrayed.
I wanna be free.
The rules were simple he used to say
Just no lying or you would have to pay.
See Pinocchio was branded for his sin
Leaving marks all over his skin.
For his stepfather hated lies
Due to the truths it would disguise.
I wanna be free.
One day his pain was too much to bare
So he did the only thing he thought was fair.
He betrayed his stepfather's demands
And took his life with his own hands.
I am a free boy. Not a puppet.
A free boy...
