Free Cage


It’s a free cage, we can go anywhere we want to in it
Moonlight reflects off these bars and imposes itself in our eyes
What would inspire only blinds – it’s too painful to see:
Man is a machine – unwavering, repetitive
We try too hard to see what we work for
We work too hard to see:
Cycles are predictable, specific things break them, unattainable things…
We fall into the rusty cogs, ever circling,
Once caught in the teeth of millennia, we are trapped
Our thoughts have all been thought before, our money all been spent,
Time orbits, it doesn’t die
We do
We work
Under the florescent lights, which stifle out the moon
Here we avoid such contemplation
Here we live – day to day, week to week, month to month
Here we provoke the intertwining web of repetition
Here we are
