Free My Mind

Free My Mind poem by D'Vante Jerrell Chapman
I'm steady thinking bout the struggle
White clowns call us fools, but they the ones that know how to juggle
Have you ever had bolognie sandwiches wit no mayo
I'm fed up had enough no need for Jlo
If this new generation knew what we go through on a daily basis
Then they wouldn't be worried bout the new shoe laces
And don't let me get started on our Ebony Queens
You niggas lie to ha
Like Medusa
Abuse ha
You niggas ain't kings y'all lames ya pitifa
My mind Stevie Wonder where all the love has gone
Back to the days where Mama and Daddy were in the home
It's a slave mentality
Gotta free my mind from the bondage, but freedom ain't free
See past tomorrow days wit my eyes closed
Remember past days when they sprayed the hose
That's a punchline on wicked ways
Knock them crackers outta the lunchable case
If you think this poem about you, think again fool
Trying to free my mind from the enemy
Use the authority God gave me
Slipping into a coma
But my sweetheart's aroma
Got me
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Racing against time
So I can free my mind
Praying that God make a way outta no way
Change don't happen by chance
It manifest from action
We will rise from the ashes
And that little app called Cash
Will make money
Waiting for days when it's sunny
Had enough storms
My life should consist of more than sleeping and food porn
Give us back our sanity
To keep from going crazy
Nothing will be given to us freely tho
We gotta take it just you and me
Trying to free my mind from the enemy
Use the authority God gave me
Slipping into a coma
But my sweetheart's aroma
Got me
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Woke
Woke
Free my mind
Racing against time
So I can free my mind
