Free my Raven Masters
`Oh to serve the raven seven is no small deed,
For the tale of their sprouting feathers is one that many heed.
Premature, runt like child must be with water christened,
“Go fetch water,” said the father, but all seven listened.
Ecstatic fools loitered around the well that held their pails.
Weak newborn little girl continued with her wails.
The father’s patience whittled down until a single thought appealed,
“I wish my sons to be ravens!” Then their fate was sealed.
Regret flowed strong in son and father,
If only the pails weren’t dropped.
Seven birds of a feather wished the curse could be stopped.
Years have passed and my flying masters have yet to meet their sister.
She walks around unaware of the seven who have missed her.
The creak of the castle door draws me to its entrance.
There the sister stands with bleeding hand and unexplained attendance.
“What are you seeking for?” said me.
“I seek the raven brothers,” answered she.
There she explained her appearance,
Until her brothers’ reoccurrence.
Rumors of brothers had reached her ears,
The secret secured for many years.
She journeyed from the sun to the moon.
And found her answers where the stars loom.
There she was given the key to the castle,
But on her way the key was lost on the gravel.
She cut off her finger to use as a key,
And jiggled the knob till the door was free.
Now she stands and waits before me.
We heard the ravens approaching in all their glory.
She dropped her parents’ ring in a dinner glass.
Then hid away behind a tall vass.
I watched the scene unfold around me.
The seventh raven profound be,
Recognition, for in his glass lies a ring from time passed.
“Human would we be if our sister would come!” exclaimed he.
Out of the vass she appeared and they were set free.
