Free From Sleek Silver

I sit and wonder will I ever be free from the sleek sliver that pierces me day after day year after year You may think you're the Master I your slave But in my dreams I am free Then I wake and you're there waiting Waiting WAITING Will I ever be free? Not as long as my heart beats and I breath You may think you've won You have my body But not my soul You will always be here Sleek Silver But the choice is mine I may be a slave to you But I choose to live Free not from you but with you

If you look at me I look "normal". I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at age 2 so I know no life without the "Sleek Silver". I want people to be aware that it's more than what they think. There is no cure. There are many complications. But my Mom instilled in me that I am a person with Diabetes not a Diabetic person. I only hope that someday there will be a cure for future generations or that they may unlock the mystery why the immune system of a person gets the wrong message and attacks their pancreas. Read up about Type I Diabetes. Knowledge is power
