Free verse

Dear Snow,

You may not know me,

But I know you.

I was born in January,

During a blizzard.

You have been with me

Since my first day alive.

You are wonderful.

You are light, soft, and

So beautiful.

You shine like diamonds.

You cover the earth,

Making it new.

Many do not enjoy you.

They say you are too

Cold, wet, get in tires

Or close down schools.

They make you into

A villian. A monster.

But you are not a monster.

You are a gift,

Meant to be cherished.

You bring joy and wonder.

Days where you can sleep in,

Or a reason for a snowball fight.

You come at a marvelous time.

You come in the age of

Hot chocolate and presents.

You snow, complete

The winter season.

For that, I am grateful.

Snow, you are humanity.

Each human is unique.

Just like each snowflake.

But we are all the same thing.

Human. Just as you are

all snow.

Thank you for all

You’ve done for me.

Sincerely,

Kai D.
