Free from you

To the anxiety that lives inside me,

You are the lapping waves of an ocean

You come and go, you take parts of me with you

You are familiar. You are always there.

You are something that I will never escape from.

Yet, while I should hate you, I seek solace in your presence.

I find comfort in the pain you bring me.

Why?

You, who have stolen so much that should have been mine

A childhood, free from you

A relationship, free from you

A life, free from you

I will never be free from you

I will cling to you

Why?

The mind is an amazing place

It creates worlds inside itself

You have given me a stronger mind

Deeper thoughts

A complex state of being

That I never wish to be free from
