Freedom

Who am I?

I am free.

Free to be who I choose to be

I am a snowflake,

unique, delicate,

beautiful in my own way.

I am a flower,

growing at my own pace and

not letting the world change

who I am.

I am the wind,

anonymous,

because people can't

catch me and pin me

down like an exotic bug.

I am a rock,

steady and unchanging in

my firm resolve to

be myself.

I will falter sometimes under

the mocking jeers of

the multitudes.

I will splinter under

the pressure of

being an individual.

I will cry sometimes

at harsh words and

hostile glances

and think,

fine, I'll join the flock.

I will become everyone else

just to stop the pain

But always I

will find strength

hidden in some deep, deep

part of myself and

I

am

free

again.

Who am I?

I am free.

Free to be who I choose to be.
