freedom
We will never be free
As long as we live
We are slaves to a master
The only freedom we have is to choose our master
What master will we serve
Will it be ourselves?
Will it be the opinions of others?
Will it be the freedom of others?
Will it be pleasure?
Will it be fear?
Will it be money?
Will it be art?
Will it be God?
Will it be justice in our world?
Will it be peace?
Will it be love?
Will it be a sport?
Will it be kindness or patience or courage?
Our lives have a purpose
And purpose is not complete freedom
We can not act outside of ourselves
And we can not control the actions of others
Our freedom is to choose who we will be
And what master we will serve
What master will you serve?
