Freedom

They say “we” are free.
Since January 1st 1863. My people was set free.
Yet. We’re still caged in.
They call this America, the land of the free.
How many people can actually say they are free ?
The death rate of “my” people steady going up.
Don’t shoot black lives matter remember they do.
But yet they take a life or two
Leaving “my” people angry now we say hands up don’t shoot.
So saying “we” are free and smiling to my friends
It’s a lie I can not stand.
See “my” people will never be truly free.
My ancestors walked this very earth with chains locked at their feet.
Begging sometimes for their life at the white man feet.
Yeah “my” people, the ones who was set free
Later on looked down on because we couldn’t write or read
Remember this is America The Land Of The Free
No matter how “Free” they say “we” are
“My” people will never be free.
