Freedom

Freedom- a nobler word
I have never heard.
Freedom- so that you may triumph,
countless masses have died
upholding and defending you,
with courage and pride.
Freedom- so that you may live,
nations have bled
in the struggle for you,
much blood has been shed.
But, let it be known throughout the earth
how martryrs have nurtured and sustained you-
often gave you rebirth.
Freedom- in your absence millions did flee,
leaving all behind, hurled into the uncertain,
just to be free!
Freedom- you must be cherished, protected, kept alive.
Freedom- so that I may know you- I must survive!
