Freedom

In the wake of my greatest losses

I saw that my life was

a vast glowing empty page

and I could do anything I wanted

I thought I would find freedom in that

but I didn't

I wanted to dance across the page in celebration

but I couldn't

It was there that I realized one thing

Pain changes you

so much so that

Freedom doesn't feel free anymore

Oh how high I would have flown

if only I had wings from the start

Now, I am afraid of the sun
