Freedom

Being a child, I always thought being able to walk out of home alone is the only definition of freedom. Until the day arrived when I saw a little bird flying from here to there in search of grain, out of my window. As that bird was searching her food, suddenly the rain started pouring down. And now that little bird had to find a shelter before she had a stomach ache. Me watching all this out of my window now caught me hold of a totally different aspect of the word “freedom”. But keeping my thoughts aside I continued watching the little creature. While the time my thoughts were overtaking me the bird had already found her shelter beside me under my window. For a instance I wanted to catch hold of her but I didn’t cause now I was interested to see her and her struggle in life for the next few moments. As soon as the rain stopped she flew over somewhere in the dark sky where I could not find her anymore. All these instances forced me to sort out the real meaning of the word “Freedom “. That night I sat beside the same window which had till now become my favorite place of the era. I noted down the meaning of the word that read something like…… Freedom does not only mean to step out of the door steps alone. It means that now one is free to set up their life the way they want to live. Freedom comes with responsibility. Responsibility to earn enough money so that one does not starve or does not stay without shelter. And as soon as one gets freedom their struggles start. After sorting all these I went to sleep with a sigh of relief leaving the window opened as it was. The next morning when I woke up… To my surprise the same bird that went of my sight yesterday was back with stuffs to build a nest in a small corner of my room. I let her stay over there and from that day till today we live under the same roof and probably till now we have sort out every possible meaning of “FREEDOM".
