Freedom in Abandonment
The wisp of a dream half forgotten
Of a childhood, left behind, and with an
Austere past I wish could be forgotten.
Five years have passed, and all of them
I’ve relived the same day every night, in the
Misunderstood threshold between dreams and reality,
The lines we blur in our dire hours.
Each night I remember that day, and each night I’ve
Woken up with the same notion in my head.
How can I believe in relief when I can’t even pronounce it?
If you had stuck around then maybe
I could have learned how easy it is,
How easy it is to leave and how
Hard it is to say an unsaid good-bye.
For now I’m letting go and
Finding freedom in your abandonment.
There’s no way I can put it in words
And maybe that’s enough.
